•Currently there are approximately 14.8 million children who have lost their parents to the consequences of HIV/AIDS in sub-Saharan Africa.
•Every day, 5,000 children lose a parent because of HIV/AIDS.
•In South Africa alone there are estimated to be over 160,000 child-headed households.
•It is estimated that 300,000 children are currently living and working on the streets across Kenya with more than 60,000 of them in Nairobi
HOPEHIV is about the generation of hope. We support children and young people in sub-Saharan Africa who have been orphaned or affected by HIV/AIDS. Rather than dismissing them as helpless victims, we believe they have the potential to lead change in their families, communities and countries and create a better future for Africa.
In 2015 HOPEHIV celebrates 15 years of serving Africa’s orphan generation. We are proud to be working with 19 project partners in seven countries (Kenya, Malawi, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe), reaching 50,000 orphans and vulnerable children.
